Lab Cards Transfer Policy

Outdoor Lab Foundation – Lab Card Program Transfer Policy

The Outdoor Lab Foundation is pleased to partner with King Soopers and Safeway through their respective fundraising programs. The Foundation has entered into these corporate giving programs to provide families with a tool to raise funds toward their child’s Outdoor Lab tuition fees.

It is important to note that these funds are not the fundraiser’s personal resources. Rather, they are funds donated by King Soopers and Safeway to the Foundation. Tracking mechanisms have been created by King Soopers and Safeway in coordination with the Foundation to allocate portions of each corporate donation across the myriad shoppers that participate in the programs. Funds are then earmarked internally by the Foundation to support the expenses associated with tuition for each student.

These corporate donations also provide important unrestricted funds to the Outdoor Lab Foundation. Funds are distributed in alignment with the Foundation’s mission to support and enhance the Outdoor Lab experience for all students in Jeffco. This includes tuition assistance for marginalized students and under-resourced schools, as well as support for the campuses so they are attractive and welcoming venues for education. Your continued shopping through this program is significant because it incentivizes and justifies King Soopers and Safeway to continue to make meaningful donations to the Foundation every year.

We understand that on occasion a family may be left with an existing balance on their King Soopers and Safeway fundraising accounts. Transferring leftover funds from one sibling’s account to another is allowed so long as two criteria are met:

1.       Your fundraising account shows a balance of $100 or more after any tuition fees are paid out for the older sibling. And,

2.       You transfer the funds to the younger sibling by the end of your older child’s 6th grade year.

We do not allow for the transfer of leftover funds between non-siblings, friends, neighbors, or extended relatives. Unspent funds are put into the Outdoor Lab Foundation’s general fund at the end of each school year.

We believe this policy balances the needs of families with the most urgent fundraising need for their next child while also directing the Foundation’s human and cash resources toward our mission in the most efficient manner.

As you could imagine, it is not always cut and dry when it comes to serving tens of thousands of families across multiple grade levels. We are available to talk through specific issues or concerns you may have to try to find resolution. Our number one priority is that parents and students feel safe, secure, and welcome to participate in Outdoor Lab. Fees, tuition, and fundraising status should not be a factor in a student opting out of the experience. If you would like to discuss a transfer, please reach out to us via email at info@outdoorlabfoundation.org or call 720-403-8241 x1003.

Please remember two important final points. First, free and reduced lunch qualifying students attend for free. Second, any excess funds donated by King Soopers and Safeway go directly into the mission of the Foundation to sustain, enhance, and make more impactful the Outdoor Lab experience for the next generation of Jeffco students. Contributions to the Foundation are always directed to the organization’s strategic initiatives and managed in the most effective and efficient way possible. Our finances are audited every year and we have earned GuideStar Platinum Status and a 100 point "Give with Confidence" rating from Charity Navigator for our commitment to organizational transparency and financial stewardship.

We are grateful for your participation in the program and we encourage your continued support.

Thank you.
