Celebrating Our 2024 Outdoor Lab Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Outdoor Lab Foundation is honored to support three outstanding students who have demonstrated exceptional growth and dedication through Outdoor Lab's High School Leader and Internship programs. This year, we are proud to recognize Jacob Durso, Spencer Coffey, and Terenn Tracy as our 2024 scholarship recipients. Their experiences and reflections underscore the profound impact of Outdoor Lab on our high school students.

Mr. Durso

Jacob's journey at Outdoor Lab was transformative, teaching him the invaluable skill of empathy. Reflecting on his experience, Jacob says "I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to be a high-school leader at Outdoor Lab. In the valley below Mount Blue Sky, spending essentially my whole day speaking with several brilliant young minds, I rediscovered my quality of imaginative empathy." Jacob's ability to empathize deeply and creatively connect with others, even in challenging moments, has profoundly influenced his life. 

Mr. Coffey

For Spencer, he reflected on the joy he finds in his work as an intern, saying, “I am gilded by the laughter that comes from a child’s first experience with something they’re going to adore for the rest of their lives. Lab has changed my future because it has displayed, on so many facets, that being a hero, even if it just changes one person, is far more rewarding and important than any monetary value could provide.” This significant realization has shaped his perspective and inspired his future aspirations.

Ms. Tracy

Terenn's time at Windy Peak was a life-changing experience that gave her a new purpose. Terenn writes "With the work the program does, it shows people that life is beautiful and worth living. To be an active part of that impact now is a gift in my life that I hope to never take for granted. I am beyond grateful to the Outdoor Lab Program for how it has changed my life.” Terenn’s work with helping children see their self-worth has been an admirable mission of Ms. Tracy this year.

The transformative experiences of Jacob, Spencer, and Terenn are a testament to the power of Outdoor Lab. We are immensely grateful for your unwavering support, which makes these opportunities possible.
