The exciting month at Outdoor Lab continues!
As we wrap up the schoolyear and celebrate our accomplishments, we are filled with excitement about the positive momentum at the Foundation and what's happening at the campuses. You likely read about the two ground breaking ceremonies we conducted this month. And a few weeks before those events, the Foundation celebrated the three High School Leaders who received $2,000 scholarships to begin their college career.
Now we are excited to announce the Foundation's $20,000 commitment to the Intern Program at Outdoor Lab! These funds are directed to the campuses to pay for the stipends each intern receives. Outdoor Lab Foundation Staff Bryan Martin, Kaelib TeeGarden, and the 2022 Spring Windy Peak Intern Cohort Every year, approximately 40 interns serve on the campuses of Mount Evans and Windy Peak. Ten per site per semester. Some interns are invited back for a second semester to serve as leaders and mentors for the incoming cohort of young adults who will play an invaluable role in the successful execution of Outdoor Lab's year.
Interns are the "boots on the ground", the "glue", the "point guards" of Outdoor Lab. They support teachers, organize classes, train high school leaders, and provide untold support to Outdoor Lab principals and site staff. We are proud to partner with the campuses to support and recognize the hard work and contributions interns make throughout the year. Outdoor Lab Foundation Executive Director Bryan Martin and the 2022 Spring Mount Evans Intern Cohort For their term of service, interns earn a $1,000 stipend and three college credits through Red Rocks Community College. Moreover, they are provided room and board during the work week while they are on campus.
Going forward, it is the Foundation's plan to support, resource, and recognize these stalwarts leaders even more. In addition to the stipend and the partnership with Red Rocks, we want to provide more career pathway opportunities for them. Providing trainings to help them build up their resumes before they move on, as well as creating a professional referral program and aggregating job opportunities that can take them another rung higher on their career ladder.
