Capital Improvement Groundbreaking Ceremonies!
We have been building excitement for this for some time but now the drawings and plans are becoming a reality!
In the Fall of 2018, Jeffco voters approved ballot measure 5B, a $567 million bond investment for needed capital improvement projects for schools throughout the district. As a result of this investment, both the Windy Peak and Mount Evans campuses will receive new buildings in 2022.
At Mount Evans, with help from a $100,000 gift from the Foundation, the district will construct a new dining hall. At Windy Peak, the campus will receive a new 2,000+ square foot bunkhouse which will sleep 20 students.

On Monday, May 9th and Monday, May 16th Outdoor Lab had groundbreaking ceremonies for the capital improvement projects at both Outdoor Lab sites! Community leaders broke out shovels and hardhats to commemorate these investments into Outdoor Lab's future.

Outdoor Lab Principals Ryan Bazz and Robb Gneiser, Jeffco Superintendent Tracy Dorland, and Outdoor Lab Interns Kaylyn Townsend and Faith Wolff spoke about how the capital improvement projects would improve the sites, and be enjoyed by Jeffco students for years to come. Mr. Gneiser referred to the unattributed quote, "We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children," while sharing why these investments are so significant to the security and flourishing of Outdoor Lab for future generations.
Construction will begin before the end of May and will be ongoing throughout the summer. We will update the community about the progress of the buildings as we see and hear more from our construction partners Bryan Construction and GH Phipps.
