Trail Work at Mt. Blue Sky
This summer, our trail maintenance and enhancement efforts at Mt. Blue Sky were made possible by twenty-five volunteers on a Corporate Volunteer Workday with Newmont and twenty-three volunteers participating in a special Women's Only Workday with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado. Over several days, our hardworking teams constructed 400 feet of trail, including four timber steps and twenty-five feet of crusher fines trail, improved 100 feet of trail tread, and removed eight downed trees. Additionally, the team built a four-foot rock wall and two mono-rock walls totaling eight feet. Thanks to their efforts, our trails are safer and more accessible for the 2,500 sixth-graders who will visit Mt. Blue Sky Outdoor Lab this school year.
Fire Mitigation Efforts at Windy Peak
In addition to our trail work, we are proud to announce our ongoing partnership with Team Rubicon and the Colorado State Forest Service at the Windy Peak campus to reduce wildfire risks. This critical work involves identifying and addressing potential fire hazards to protect the natural beauty and safety of our beloved campus.
Team Rubicon brings their expertise in disaster relief and community service to this effort, employing top-tier fire mitigation practices. With their help and the support of the Colorado State Forest Service, we'll be removing hazardous fuels, clearing dead and diseased trees, and creating defensible spaces around our buildings and facilities. These efforts will significantly reduce the risk of wildfire and help preserve the unique environment at Windy Peak for generations to come.
Join Us in Stewardship: Calling All Businesses and Community Groups
