Outdoor Lab teachers connect with NREL...

Teachers from both Outdoor Lab sites, Jason Harding and Deb Miller, and our Executive Director Shannon, met up with officials at NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratories) to discuss ways to partner.  They had a tour of the green energy facilities and talked about how to connect interns to NREL.  Starting next semester, interns will have a day at the facility learning about renewable energy and jobs in that field.  The goal is to bring that curriculum to the sites and to all our students in the near future.

Interested in being a volunteer?

We are looking for 1-2 volunteers for our Outdoor Lab gear program. Duties include:

  • Biweekly shift on Monday's at our office
  • Average time spent between 1-1.5 hours
  • Being involved in one of the most beloved items students receive before they go to Outdoor Lab.

If you are interested, email Leah, leah.roche@outdoorlabfoundation.org today!

Are you interested in being on a leadership committee?

In the next month we are creating something extremely special that will bring together leaders who want to help move Outdoor Lab forward. If you are interested in becoming a part of an Outdoor Lab community that will meet regularly for the next few months, provide guidance, and do many innovative things in the community on behalf of Outdoor Lab, this is for YOU. Contact Paige, paige.brophy@outdoorlabfoundation.org if you are interested. You will receive more information soon.

A moment in history: The Mount Evans Greenhouse Ribbon Cutting...

The Mount Evans Greenhouse Classroom Ribbon cutting was a huge success. Close to 1,000 people visited Mount Evans during their open house and the ribbon cutting ceremony was the highlight.

The Denver Post  published an article about the vision of the project and highlighted the amazing community efforts as well as the generous donations that made this possible. Check out the article below...

Looking towards the future...

We have some big things coming up next month. Stay tuned for a youth advisory board that will be impacting over 7,000 Jefferson County students this fall, high school leader gear, and a tangible memory every high school leader will want to take home with them.
