What happens to the sites in the summer?

So often we get asked, what happens to the sites in the summer? We can tell you, plenty! For almost the entire summer, both Mount Evans and Windy Peak are leased to a camp program called Avid 4 Adventure. They give kids a full adventure experience such as hiking, biking, climbing, high ropes and more while being great stewards of the land. This money helps fund teachers, programs and site improvements. Every bit matters when trying to make Outdoor Lab thrive.

Did you know that tuition doesn't cover all of the basic expenses to run and provide Outdoor Lab to 6,000 students and 1,000 high school leaders? YOU are part of the equation too! Your donation pays for water test kits for classes, navigation equipment, new mattresses in the bunk houses, repairs to historical buildings and so much more. We need you NOW to help make Outdoor Lab the incredible experience that it is. PLEASE DONATE.

What it means to be a high school leader...

What were the most common words that popped into high school leaders' minds when asked what the experience means to them? Rewarding, maturing, challenging, inspiring, leadership, influential, growth, perspective, and of course FUN.

High school leaders become more than a role model for the students that attend Outdoor Lab. They are a guide, teacher, coach and friend. They are the student peers who foster the leaders of tomorrow. Students who are high school leaders see this program as a launching pad for future leadership opportunities, and they continue to delve into leadership opportunities throughout high school and even college. Being a high school leader builds life-long skills that high school leaders still carry and talk about. Their independence is tested and challenged frequently during their experience, but all say that these challenges better their future.

What students mention the most when asked about their experience... the bond that is created between the high school leader teams.

When you contribute to Outdoor Lab it is not just to the program or the students that attend, it is the high school leaders who go free of charge for their volunteer time. Please DONATE to the leadership, growth, maturing and life-changing FUN.
