Monica Dubois

Windy Peak Intern

New or Returning Intern: Returning
Hometown: Lakewood, CO

Why did you want to be an Intern?
I fell in love with outdoor lab in 6th grade my first time up, and was lucky enough to be picked for GT week. During high school, I came up as a leader three times, and also participated in a summer camp at Mt. Evans (EMAC) for three years. I also adore the outdoors, and have worked with children much of my life through babysitting and teaching both swim and martial arts lessons.

What are you most looking forward to this semester?
Being outdoors and making strong relationships with the people I work with! I’d also like some experience in this field, as well as the real-world job aspects of this position.

What skills do you hope to gain from this experience?
I hope to gain more experience in working with children, working with people of different ages, and learning to solve issues that  arise in the work place.

If you attended Outdoor Lab as a 6th grader, where did you go and what was your favorite experience?
I went to Mt. Evans as a 6th grader. I remember loving the “doot” song in the mornings, churning butter to put on cornbread in the Dodge Lodge, and the hikes.

Do you have plans for after your Internship? If so, what are they?
I plan to do another internship next semester, and continue with college. I’m not sure what I’m majoring in yet, but it might be outdoor education, after this year!
