Monica Dubois

Windy Peak Intern

New or Returning Intern: Returning
Hometown: Littleton

What was your most memorable experience as an intern in your first semester?
I love the super smart kids that have pre-existing knowledge on the material we’re covering in class, and just answer every question with extra facts that I didn’t even know. They usually have a pretty great sense of humor, too. One of my favorites was a kid that knew just about everything about fungi, and he would point out different mushrooms on the trail and describe every little detail about them. It’s so interesting to see the little things that amaze other people.

What has been your biggest take-away from this experience so far?
I’ve definitely learned how to interact with so many different levels of people, from the 6th graders to the high school leaders to the teachers. Even with my fellow interns, it’s eye-opening to see what each group can teach you.

What have your learned about yourself?
I’ve realized that people have more to offer than what is originally shown on their surface. I’ve become more open to people’s true identities, and to what I can learn from them

What goals do you have for your 2nd semester interning?
I want to make deeper connections with kids and high school leaders, even in the short week I know them for. And I want to learn names more quickly!

Do you have plans for after your Internship? If so, what are they?
I currently plan on taking two years of community college and then transferring to a university. Hopefully I’ll find what I want to major in before too long!
