Don't Let Your Braces Scare You This Halloween
Dr. Chapman, Chapman Orthodontics
So, you're taking inventory on your candy. You've got it all laid out on the living room floor. Let's be honest, it is probably in categories. But, something scarier than ghosts is creeping up on you this Halloween ... your braces. Can you even enjoy this holiday anymore? Candy tastes yummy, but is it worth a broken wire or broken bracket?
Here are a few reminders of what candy to avoid and what candy can be devoured without fear. Nothing ruins a Halloween night like a sticky situation.
Avoid taffy, licorice, caramels, whoppers, and gummies. Also, be cautious of those candies with nuts. These little treats grab onto wires and brackets, and bend and yank them right off.
Don't worry, here are a list of tasty treats that are safe to eat. Hershey chocolates and M & M's (either plain or peanut butter, avoid those containing nuts), Kit Kat, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way, Reeses Pieces, Mounds, Pirates bootie, cookies, and cakes.
Don't scare Dr. Chapman this Halloween season! Make sure to brush and floss thoroughly after eating any candy.
From Dr. Chapman and the entire staff at Chapman Orthodontics, have a Happy Halloween!
