David McCullough

Windy Peak Intern

New or Returning Intern: New
Hometown: Morrison

Why did you want to be an Intern?
Although all through High school I have tried many different events that have come my way, none have really stuck or felt right with me. When I got offered the internship, I felt like this would be a perfect opportunity for me to not only take time to find myself and grow, but to help other children and leaders along with me.

What do you look most forward to during your internship?
The thing that I look most forward to during my internship is meeting new students every single week. There is a vast amount of people that come to Outdoor Lab from all over the state to experience the unique learning experience that this place offers. My favorite part about being an intern is waking up every morning and realizing where I am. The Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab School is located in such a unique and beautiful place in Colorado, and I feel blessed to be apart of this program. Everyday is a different amazing sight, that constantly takes my breath away.

What skills do you hope to gain from this experience?
The skills that I hope to gain from this experience is to increase my this would be a good opportunity for me interact with people and improve my communication skills.

If you attended Outdoor Lab as a 6th grade student, where did you go and what was your favorite experience?
When I attended Outdoor Lab as a 6th grader I went to Mt. Evans. My favorite experience as being a 6th grader was being surrounded by all of my friends that were important to me in a positive environment. To this day I still remember everything that we did together, as well as keep in touch with them. This was a time and place that really brought us together and created a permanent bond between us all that would never go away.

Did you serve as a High School Leader? If yes, where did you serve and what was your favorite experience?
I did serve as a high school leader. I served at Mt. Evans, and my favorite experience was coming back to the place that I had so many memories. Coming back brought me back to the place where I was surrounded by so much positivity and this really made me realize how much of an impact Outdoor Lab really has had on me. It is this that made me want to become an intern and pass on to every 6th grader that comes through here.

Do you have plans for after your Internship? If so, what are they?
After my internship I plan on graduating from Lakewood High School in May of 2017. Then afterwards I would like to attend an in state college to get a degree in either mechanical engineering or business.
