Blake Armitage

Windy Peak Intern

New or Returning Intern: New
Hometown: Morrison

Why did you want to be an Intern?
Outdoor Lab was one of the most influential experiences that I had as a 6th grader and a High School leader. I want to make sure that the 6th graders love it as much as I did. This place really feels like home to me.

What do you look most forward to during your internship?
The thing I am looking forward to the most is having a whole new group of students each week. Outdoor Lab really is an incredible learning experience because sitting in a classroom really isn’t for everyone. This experience is truly amazing because it’s one of the only places I know of where it really is hands on learning and the kids who don’t like it at the start of the week don’t want to leave by Friday.

What skills do you hope to gain from this experience?
From this experience I hope to gain leadership and patience. I have a hard time knowing when to step in and help people and when to take a step back and let somebody else take the reins. I feel that Outdoor Lab is a learning experience no matter what age.

If you attended Outdoor Lab as a 6th grade student, where did you go and what was your favorite experience?
I went to Windy Peak as a a 6th grader. My favorite experience was meeting all new people that I still talk to today.

Did you serve as a High School Leader? If yes, where did you serve and what was your favorite experience?
I served as a High School Leader at Mt Evans. The school that I went up with was really great and all the kids had a blast. I made quite a few friends with the leaders and even the interns. It gave me the opportunity to work with a bunch.

Do you have plans for after your Internship? If so, what are they?
I’m going to change my name so I can become an intern again!
